The First Wave of Flicks for the 2026 New Orleans Film Festival
Coming this October!
Dear Moviegoers,
Throughout every year, the folks at the New Orleans Film Society bring and screen an eclectic and diverse array of cinema to the local community through various programming trials. At the forefront of event inclusion and accessibility on the event circuit, they've made showtimes more than worth attending, but supporting too.
Flattery and flowery language be damned, New Orleans is a few theaters shy of becoming an arthouse cinema desert, despite some really great film series and dedicated managers doing their passionate best. This is why hubs such as our film society are important - to encourage moviegoing, to strengthen theatrical exhibition, and to showcase local filmmakers who work just outside of the industrial bubble.
This season is the time for the New Orleans Film Festival, run by our aforementioned film society, happening from October 22nd to the 27th, screening and streaming for locals and long-distance lovers alike. A documentary on the immortal singer Irma Thomas will open things up, followed by independent selections from across the world that will be screening in awards contention.
